THE PUBLIC EYE ON DAVOS
A CHALLENGE TO THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM IN DAVOS
After a guest performance in New York this year, in 2003, the Public Eye on Davos will once again be present in Davos to challenge the WEF and the neoliberal policies promoted by its members. Preparations are underway.
The Public Eye on Davos conference is again planned as a five day event running parallel to the WEF. It will take place from January 23 to 27 2003 in Davos.
In various panel discussions, speakers from both the global North and South will present alternatives to the corporate-led globalization and models for a socially and environmentally sustainable economy. We also plan to organize controversial panels and therefore will invite corporate representatives.
The following topics* will be addressed at the conference:
Corporate crime (projects with negativ social and environmental impacts)
Corporate cosmetics (blue- / greenwash and other corporate PR-strategies)
Corporate accountability (the need of binding regulation for corporate activities)
Corporate takeover: privatization and the selling-off of public services (impacts of GATS negotiations in the WTO)
*may be subject to change
Detailed program information will be available from October 2002 on our homepage www.publiceyeondavos.ch.
We will keep you up to date with the evolving conference program and other Public Eye on Davos activities.
